it’s time

charlotte-dawson

I didn’t know Charlotte Dawson. I met her briefly once at a Women of Letters event back in June 2012 and I remember thinking that she was even more beautiful in person than she was on TV. I have been a fan of Charlotte since the first season of Australia’s Next Top Model. I loved her frankness in judging, but also the kindness she showed the contestants. She appeared to be a person who cared deeply. Read More

2013 a year in review

2013

It seems strange to be writing a blog post to end the year as I haven’t blogged a whole lot in 2013, but it just felt appropriate and like the right thing to do.

2013 has been an interesting year and while one of the most amazing things in my entire life happened to me this year, this year hasn’t been a great one. Read More

burned

From the press release:

When a tragic event occurs in a quiet town in England, no one could predict just how it would ripply through the four people from opposite sides of the world who physically and emotionally collide in this multi-faceted tale.

Kate Daniels is grappling with the freak death of her estranged husband, whilst trying to rebuild a life for herself and her precocious and space-obsessed young son, Noah.

Meanwhile, Malcolm Martin is still paralysed with grief twenty years after the death of his son. Home for him is now a park bench by the canal.

And then there’s Matthew Hooper – a classmate of Noah’s – who has come to suspect his older brother, Tom, has a dangerous obsession with fire. Read More

The beaming new parents

The beaming new parents

The whole world (well not the whole world, but a lot of people) have royal baby fever. Today, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge left the hospital with their newborn little prince and he is gorgeous. Absolutely beautiful. And William and Kate are beaming just like any first time parents. They look so lovely and happy and so they should, it is a happy occasion.

But there’s something that bothers me a little every time something good happens for William — people will inevitably bring up Diana. Read More

all the birds singing

From the press release:

Who or what is watching Jake Whyte from the woods?

“The human eye senses movement before all else” — What if you saw something watching you from the woods? Something beastly, something that had been slaughtering your sheep, one-by-one? Something that might not be human…

Jake Whyte lives on her farm with her companion, Dog, and her much-loved herd of sheep. Her farm is on a small, remote island, nothing unsual except for the wild and windy weather and the cheeky crows that watch over her each day.

Nothing seems out of the ordinary until another one of Jake’s sheep is found mangled, making it two deaths in a month. Then one night, Jake sees a figure on her farm and files a trespassing report with the police. Ironically they dismiss the complaint and suggest the loneliness is getting to her.

But when she starts hearing strange noises and seeing things out in the woods, she is convinced that someone, or something, is watching her. Read More

wedding planning: choosing a venue

Our church doesn't look like this, but it's the right place for us

Our church doesn’t look like this, but it’s the right place for us

There are so many aspects to wedding planning and I’ve already covered setting a date and setting a budget. The next thing on the very long to-do list is to choose a venue. This is a tricky one because it can help to set the tone for what your wedding day will look like.

Just like with my budget piece, I will not be telling you exactly where we have selected because while I don’t mind telling the people I personally know, I don’t want strangers to know the date and place of where DG and I will become man and wife. In light of this, you’re probably thinking “what’s the point of writing a blog post about it”, but I’ll be sharing with you how DG and I came to choose the places* we have. Read More
