2013 oscars – full list of winners

Oscars

The 85th Annual Academy Awards was held at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and was hosted by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane. While initally skeptical about the choice of MacFarlane as host, I actually found him to be rather good. Granted, I haven’t seen it all, but I loved the opening monologue which you can watch below. bullying the bully

chuuni_bullying_tutorial_by_timmi_o_tool-d5jh2gv

I am against bullying. I hate it. On this blog, I will never post comments which are abusive towards others, it’s just not in my nature. That’s not to say I’ve never gone off on a little rant in person, but to put something down in words and then post it online is something I don’t understand. I never have and I never will. You’ll have noticed that in the celebrity posts I’ve done in the past, I talk about what is happening but try to be really careful (and I may have failed) to make sure I’m not saying anything really hurtful or anything that could be classed as bullying. Why? Because celebrities are people as well and people with feelings. Read More

2013 grammy awards – full list of winners

GrammyAwardsTrophys_620_120512

The 55th Grammy Awards happened at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Despite some strict dress code rules this year, the read carpet at the Grammy’s is always interesting. For my fashion picks, I’m going for the most ‘sensible’ as it’s hard to judge the really out-there styles the Grammy’s bring. There were performances by Justin Timerlake and Jay Z, Maroon 5 and Alicia Keys and that’s just the beginning! fun was a big winner taking home Song of the Year and The Black Keys taking home a few awards. Gotye and Adele were winners as well (obviously). Read More

2013 BAFTA’s – full list of winners

Bafta_2446156c

The 2013 BAFTA’s (British Academy Film Awards) were held at the Royal Opera House in London, England. It was a cold night with snow falling on the red carpet so it was hard to stay warm while looking good. Ben Affleck’s Argo was the big winner of the night leaving me (and everyone else) even more confused as to why he wasn’t nominated for Best Director at the upcoming Academy Awards. Everyone looked really good on the red carpet but I’ve been able to pick my favourite and my least favourite look of the night. Read More

the importance of kindness

KITTEN!

KITTEN!

Have you ever noticed how much kind words can change your whole day? You may be cranky, stressed out and overly emotional. You may be on the verge of frustrated tears and then you bump into someone you know, or you get a text message, a phone call, an email or a post on Facebook from someone who says something really kind and sweet and it instantly changes your mood.

I had one of these moments recently. Read More

book review: the heavy by dara-lynn weiss

This book was sent to me by Random House Australia. I have been asked to write a review and my review is truthful to my opinion of the book.

I was a bit apprehensive to read this book. I didn’t know how I felt about a mother who puts her seven-year-old on a diet, but similarly, I don’t know how I feel about a mother who “allows” (and I say this loosely) their seven-year-old to become obese. But you know the saying, until you’ve walked a mile (or more locally, kilometre) in someone else’s shoes, you can’t really judge. After reading Dara-Lynn Weiss’ memoir The Heavy, I couldn’t agree more. Read More
