recipe: classic blueberry muffins

I enjoy blueberries and I enjoy muffins so combining the two is obviously a winning combination. It’s been a while since I’ve baked. It’s actually been awhile since I did something domestic like cooking. In my defence, I’ve been sick and working full time. But hopefully I’ll be getting back into the swing of things and will be able to share all my amazing food with you. And by amazing, I mean perfectly adequate. Now for these Classic Blueberry Muffins from Super Food Ideas magazine. Read More

i don’t understand gun violence

Century 16 Cinema in Aurora, Colorado where the shooting took place.

I don’t understand gun violence. I really don’t. It’s something that has always fascinated me and something that I frequently have tried to understand the psychology behind, but I simply don’t. I have watched Michael Moore’s documentary Bowling For Columbine more times than I can count. In fact, I’m rewatching it as I write this. I know it presents a very biased opinion of gun violence within America but for the most part, I agree with Moore’s opinion; it is simply too easy to purchase guns and ammunition. Read More

the low down according to mon – july 20

Hi friends, hope you’ve all been having a splendid week. I have to be honest with you, this edition of “the low down according to mon” is not anywhere near as detailed nor as diverse as the previous ones. Why? I have recently started full time work and that, teamed with the fact that I have been feeling quite unwell this week has left me with little energy to gather celeb news for you. This will happen occasionally and I am sorry. But I’ve still got some goodies for you and there will still be my (detailed) celeb highlights edition on KiKi & Tea at 4pm. All this information was accurate when posted at 9AM (AEDT)… Read More

fifty shades of i don’t care

I’m a bandwagon jumper. It’s true. The driving force behind my decision to read the Twilight series, The Hunger Games trilogy and my choice to watch The Voice was that everyone else seemed to be doing it. I am, unfortunately, not a leader but a follower. I wish I was a leader and I have been on a few occasions, but I tend to follow the crowd. I have an overwhelming need to know what is going on and I hate not being able to contribute to a discussion. I’m a bit of a pop culture junkie. Shocking, I know. But there is one bandwagon I haven’t yet jumped on and I have no intention of ever doing so. I do not care about reading 50 Shades of GreyRead More

recipe: chicken, leek and mushroom casserole

I really enjoy that now both the Woolworths and Coles catalogues each week come with recipes in them, usually using some ingredients that are on special that week. I especially enjoy winter recipes, I love a good casserole and this past week, the Chicken, Leek and Mushroom Casserole in the Woolworths catalogue looked particularly tasty so I thought I would try it out.  Read More

the fallen series

It was the end of 2009 and I was looking for a new book to read. After reading the Harry Potter series for the millionth time and after finishing the Twilight series (again), I decided that I wanted a stand-alone book. I didn’t want to be waiting with baited breath until the next one was released. No, I wanted everything wrapped up in a neat little package by the last page.

While generally not a huge fan of most of the teen books available these days, with all the vampires and supernatural occurrences, something drew me towards the cover of Fallen by Lauren Kate.
