18th annual screen actors guild (SAG) awards wrap up (2012)

The 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on 29th January 2012. Unlike most award ceremonies, the SAG Awards don’t have a host, just a slew of famous presenters.

The ceremony opened with the now expected “How I Became An Actor” monologues, with Jon Cryer, Demian Bichir, Emily Watson, Amber Riley, Jim Parsons and Rose Byrne. The Help was the big winner of the night, taking home every award for which it was nominated. Read More

what australia day is about

Happy Australia Day to all my lovely readers! Hope you all have fun celebrating this wonderful day. Me? I’m spending it writing and watching season five of One Tree Hill. But regardless of what you decide to do with your day, it is still a day worth celebrating.

A recent survey conducted by sociologist and anthropologist Professor Farida Fozdar, of the University of Western Australia, found a possible link between flying Australian flags on your car on Australia Day and racism. (You can read the full findings here). While I am sure quite a few Australians are racist, the majority are not. Read More

what happened to love?

Heidi and Seal during happier times

Over the holidays, one of three things invariably seem to happen. People either get engaged, break up or keep with the status quo. As a new year dawns, or is about to, people tend to reevaluate their lives and if they don’t keep with the status quo, they either decide to make the leap or cut all ties.

Over the past few months, a divorce epidemic seems to have broken out across Hollywood. Many couples have announced their decision to part ways with the big names being Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, Katy Perry and Russell Brand and the latest couple to have joined the ranks, Victoria’s Secret Angel Heidi Klum and singer Seal. art imitating life

Really convincing as Noah and Allie

Don’t you just love it when actors who are a couple on-screen announce that they are also a couple off-screen? Well I do. I think this is because it makes their relationship on the television show or in the movie they star in appear more real. And just like it makes me happy when they are together in real life, I must admit, I do become a little bit upset when they announce their spit…invariably because they have fallen in love with another co-star.

But why does this happen, I hear you ask? Read More

69th annual golden globe awards (2012) wrap up

Ricky Gervais is the host of the ceremony for the third year in a row

“So, where was I?”

Ricky Gervais was invited back for the third year in a row to host the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards, chosen by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. After creating a bucket load of controversy last year, Ricky toned it down this time around, while still being hilarious. Read More

people’s choice awards 2012 winners

Big Bang's Kaley Cucuo was the host of the night

January/February is one of my favourite times of year because it is awards season! To kick off the 2012 season was the People’s Choice Awards which aired Wednesday 11th January. The Big Bang Theory‘s Kaley Cucuo was the host for the night and had a total of seven wardrobe changes. Katy Perry (who was absent at the ceremony) and Harry Potter (whose entire crew was mysteriously absent, leaving no one to accept the awards) were the big winners of the night. One of the things that stands out for the People’s Choice Awards is that, as the name suggests, it’s picked by the people. Being as immersed in the entertainment industry as I am, I naturally voted and I’ll let you know if any of my people won. Read More

book review: one day by david nicholls

This book is a classic word of mouth best-seller. People read it, love it, convince their friends they should read it and the cycle continues. Lately I have asked people what book I should read next and most of them recommend “One Day”. For those wondering, there was a movie released in 2011 (I went to say this year, then realised we’re now in 2012) starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess. Read More
